Car not accelerating

Today i had a funny problem and i was wondering if you guys could plz help me out

I was driving fine for about 10 mins and as i was pressing the brake I can feel the car giving out and i see the rpm drop to 0. The car is still turned on at this point and i'm pressing the gas and nothing is happening. I turn off the car and turn it back on the rpm jump to about 3000 then fall to 0. Again when i was pressing the gas nothing would happen. I turned on and off my car a few times then all of a sudden i was able to accelerate.

Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated

i drive a 2006 Cobalt LT

Thanks!!

RPMs hit 0? Electrical. Shut off, started back up, working? Strange. Pulling any codes?

Sounds like something mine does if I pull into my garage too slow. Might try cleaning the throttle body. Sometimes it sticks and the PCM overcorrects to compensate and causes the stall.
If I give my car gas to get up the drive way, then hit the clutch to stop before I hit the back of my garage sometimes the RPMs will jump then fall off to 0.

When i say RPM to 0, i meant that the needle went to 0. Also when i drive, and i start to brake i see the RPM needle fluctuate. This can possibly be linked to the problem?
Also, the car is automatic
Thanks!
