Car questions

Does anyone else have these problems with their car:
I have a 2006 cobalt ss/sc

1.In third gear if feels like the shifter wants to comeout of gear(put your hand on the shifter while your driving and feel it feel like it's going to pop out)

2.Does anyone have the problem that when they start up their car and when you put it into neutral while driving, the rpms drop to like 1200 and then slowly start to rise without you stepping on the gas?

They car is suppose to do that when you first crank it to get all the fluids circulating. every car I hve ever owned does that when it is first crunk. In my opinion, you should not touch the gas or take off till it has settled below a 1,000 rpms. When it comes to while you are going mine does the same thing. I'm not sure why it does it then but my best guess is that it does it so that if you decide to put it in another gear without pressing the gas to get the rpm's up, it will not jolt the motor as bad as it would if the car was at idle, but that is just my guess.

I get the same feel from my shifter

I have had it pop out of gear a few times, just as Iam resting my hand on the shifter
with out any real forward or back pressure (2nd & 3rd )

There is alot of torque that motor is throwing into the gearbox. If I rest my hand on the shifter while driving, when giving it gas the shifter will kick forward. If you give it any pressure you can easily knock it out of gear, I have done it on accident a few times. Just like when you get any new car, you have to get used to things.

The RPM thing is not an issue. All the cobalt SS/SC have this. I am not sure exactly why, but there is a reason that when moving and in neutral the RPMs set at 1250 or so. I believe it has something to do with the SC, but not for sure.
