car won't crank
car won't crank
So, my friend and i put a clutch in the balt and the battery was unplug for 5 days...now after putting everything back together and every plugs connected and the battery plug back in, we tried to start the car, and it didn't crank at all.....the lights are on and when you turn the key over and press the clutch in, you can hear the starter clicking but nothing happens.....so i was wondering if anyone knew what is the problem.....
Get someone to jump you off. But let me also suggest this.
Get you a glass of water and mix it with baking soda. Take a towel with you to keep from making a mess. Open your trunk to get to the battery. Lay the towel underneath the battery, and pour the mixture on the end of the battery cables and on the battery posts. You'll probably see it fizz and bubble. Sounds like you aren't getting a good connection, so try that. It wouldn't hurt to get one of those wire terminal cleaners and run it over and thru the ends of the battery cables. Try that, charge your battery or get someone to jump you off and go for a ride. Come back, shut the car off, and try it again. Let me know

Alright bro. It may be just as easy to take the battery out of the car. The baking soda mixture is a strong base that neutralizes the battery acid, so i would take it out of the car. If you don't have a wire brush or anything just take an old tooth brush and brush the ends of the cables and battery posts real good. Do this repeatedly until nothing fizzes anymore. Just don't get the baking soda in your actual battery acid reservoir...
If you want to avoid this in the future, go to your local parts store and buy some of the red and green things that slide over the battery posts. They usually help a lot.

also , its not like my car is old, its only 7 months old....so the battery is not that old.....but as soon as i get the chance to go home and check on the car , i will do what you said and we will see.......
The car doesn't have to be old for battery acid to start eating at your cables and posts. In fact, I had a brand new battery put in my car and about 2 months later this problem occured. I'm not really sure why, but yeah let me know. BTW, what kind of clutch did you install?

when my clutch was changed my buddy and i did it in about 2 weeks. we were really busy. but in the process between random people "helping" i had a solenoid on the starter busted, a couple blown relays, fuses missing, etc...just stupid bullshit. im not saying you did it incorrectly however just double check things. i had the same problem but mine was the starter. are you sure its engaging with the flywheel?
