Another Update:

They "think" they have found the cause... Apparently there was a ground wire under the left headlight the was f'ed up and causing everything to short out. We shall see as I am picking it up tonight.

The starter issues started about 3 weeks ago (approx 14k miles)

But I have a HUGE service history, so I am not sure whats going to happen.

Like I told my Service Rep... "Great they'll fix the start issue... but what about next month..."

I think my odds on a Swap have fallen between slim and none lol... But I still hope...

Next time it does it while your driving, start going off the side of the road, hit a ditch or something really hard and just call them up and say your gonna sue the hell out of them because you sent the car in three times and they still haven't fixed it. And you f'd up your neck.

Works everytime.

Lol... I just want this ordeal over... I am not "looking for something for nothing" theres been a lot of problems and a lot of time spent trying to get her working again. I thinks its a fair request to ask to be relieved of this car and offered another one.

So I got my car back and it turns out that there was a ground wire out of wack and it shorted out my system...

Anyway, my dealer is on "my side" and he said since that wire was already replaced this is working to my advantage...

I am really hoping that I can get a collateral swap...

I talked to my dealership today and told them about the outside temp issue.

He said it just prolly needs to be calibrated, but for all intents in purposes he goes, "Sounds like an electrical problem to me" so atleast he is trying to help me out.

I told him I wasn't taking it into service until I knew what the final word with this car is. Hopefully I will know on friday, hopfully I will be getting into a new 06 saturday lol...

I've got the same dead car trick

Wish I could afford an SS but I've got the base model with this problem. First time, it played a really good dead battery situation. No keyless entry, dome light, trunk light, etc. Tried to jump start it several times with no luck. Tow truck driver tried to jump it three times next day before towing it to dealer. Once at the dealer it starts right up. Service advisor looks at me like I am an alien when I swear up and down the battery was dead. They recharged the " a little low" battery and sent me on my way. Two months later car does same crap. This time my wife calls me stranded at the mall saying, "your car won't start again". Load up three sleepy kids in van to go get her. When I get there probably 45 minutes after she called I decide to try and start it since it did this before. Sure enough it starts and we drive it home. Take it to dealer the next day. They are telling me it is the starter and they replaced it. How does the starter create a dead car with no lights or power? This will be interesting. Keep posting your results.

Tyler, I had a similar issue with my Grand Prix, turned out to be a bad battery terminal post (internally). It would seem completely dead, no interior lights, nothing, nor would it jump start. Then out of the blue it would start right up. It finally died at a mall that I was doing a job at, screwed around with it for about 30 min. before I got it to start and managed to get it to the other side of the mall where there was a Sears (actually died while I was pulling up there, the mechanics said they couldn't even look at the car unless it was inside for insurance purposes, had to push it myself). They told me the battery was charging fine and said I needed a new alternator, but since the battery was 4 years old, I asked them to humor me and put a new battery in anyways. Started fine ever since. Turned out the "+" post on the battery was loose inside, and not making proper contact.

Mken

Thanks for the feedback. I'll mention this to the dealer. Got the car back today. Of course they couldn't duplicate the dead car trick so they sent me on my way. They replaced the starter because it was slow to start. I can't tell any difference from original starter, but they replaced it so...... We'll see if this car plays dead again in the future.

Can you say LEMON!!!!!!!!

This f#cking car is a joke. So here I am out of town on business for a few days and my wife calls tonite. Guess what? Yup you guessed it, that POS is playing dead again. She said she went into the garage to drive it tonite and the keyless entry did nothing. Opened door with the key and no dome or interior lights. Needless to say it's still sitting in the garage. So this is strike three. It stranded me once in december, her once last month and now it is dead in the garage again not a month later. I can't wait to see what my dealer says this time. Need to find a lawyer and get lemon law proceedings under way.

Well except for the fact that our A/C seems to be wired up wrong and when you try to slide a cd into the player when the car is off, the dashboard needles jump around, our '06 is fine too. hehe.

How many miles on your car when this dead trick started and how many miles now?

My car is hesitating at times to start, like it is a starter or ignition issue and I have only 3700 miles on my '06 that is 6 months old. My miles are so low due to having it sitting around for weeks at a time in the dealership waiting for parts. I have full power for now but I just don't want to get stranded in it or have my wife be driving and get stranded either.

I think I opened up a final thread for the updates...

But the final resolve, was my bumper to bumper going from:

3yr 36k
To:

6yr 91k miles.

And on top of that the car runs great now... no more issues.

The problem WAS a loose ground wire under the left headlight it was stripped and retapped and now its all gone.

A loose ground wire will definitely do it. To give the mechanics a little bit of credit, electrical problems are notoriously hard to track down.

Dude sounds like what happened to my car, i had my ecu and wireing replaced because i was having no start issues all the time, and them my comp grounded internally and caused a vehicle fire, i called gm, and told them they either are paying for hte work or reimbursing me or i will get a lawyer.

so yeah.... Sounds like what happened to me without the fire...sorry bout the car bro

I didint read all of these some someone might have already said it but a loose terminal will give you power on minute and not the next and will click and not start or click and start . If you havent checked it yet, I would. I had a problem a while back and changed my starter and it was my positive cable. I couldnt believe it because im very mechanical inclined and I missed the loose cable.
