CEL with bad gas?

currently just have an ingen cold air intake done to the car with a stage one to go in after the weekend.... but yesterday nite on way home CEl came on. Now my car had 1/4 tank of gas which was put in the winter, cuz car just came out of storage so technicly the fuel is old, now my car is equiped with onstar and i pushed the mighty blue button to see if they could tell me what the code was, onstar told me that the cel has something to do with the fuel system, she then tryed to upload the code. But the thing is she saw nothing wrong with the car no codes? So my next course of action put in a full tank of gas and see... well put in a fresh tank of 92 shell v power and in 10 mins the light went off? My question is, is it possible for the fuel to set off a CEL?

It also could have been that your gas cap wasn't on properly. I know after I filled my tank up once, I got a CEL because the gas cap was not properly shut and the seal did not "bond" I guess you could say. But then again, you did have your car in your garage for a while too. Maybe it was just the gas.

you know what i at one time had to put the lowst octane i had to. cheap ass little town right. on the way home my transition from first to second was ugly. i mean the rpms would drop ugly right after i let go of the gas and put in the clucth. filled my tank with 93 octane when we reached el paso tx, and never had the problem again.. fuel turns bad when left for a while thas why they sell some liquid perservitive for boats etc.

When you store your car for more than a month at a time you're supposed to add a fuel stabilizer to the mix otherwise chemical elements in the fuel break down/separate and can really screw up your car when you try to run it again.
