Question CEL on solid!

Hope someone has a suggestion.

Drove to work today, parked the car. Got in it to leave, started it up and it threw a CEL. Shut it off, re-started, still threw a code. Seemed to run/drive fine so I took it home. Thought maybe it was the gas cap. I checked that. It was a little loose, so I tightened it, and drove around for a while, but the light didn't clear. The owners manual says it may take some driving until it clears, but mine didn't. I drove for like 10 minutes, so I am assuming that is not the problem.

Otherwise, the idle seems a tad rougher than usual, but it may just be my imagination. Can't see anything loose or disconected in the engine bay. The car did not get wet. It was a warm +30 day here in Edmonton. It has run much longer in that heat before. Coolant temp was well within normal too.

I'll have to call my dealer. I have some very important running around to do tomorrow, so I hope the car doesn't die on me.

If anyone has some other suggestions that I can try, please let me know!

Thanks!

Dustin

without a code i don't think anyone can help you. Get a code reader or have someone pull the code.

Exactly, anything with no symptoms and no trouble code could be anything. Example: my car threw two codes, lighting short and XM failure. No symptoms, no lighing problems, no XM problems. No way to know what they were without a reader......

It's going out to the dealer tomorrow. They said that even if it was the gas cap, they will nead to clear the code. The manual is incorrect in stating that the code will clear.

I was just hoping that it was something simple that I was missing. I am sure it is nothing major. Oil, coolant, belts and everything else are fine. I don't hear any knocks or anything else wrong, so hopefully it was either gas cap or just a fault sensor.
