Check Engine Lights!!!!!! Please Help!!!
Check Engine Lights!!!!!! Please Help!!!
I drive a 2005 chevy cobalt ss supercharged, i read my cel's today on my interceptor and received 5 codes. I know for sure that some of these are here because i have an aftermarket 3" catted downpipe from ZZP and K&N cold air intake both of these are on my car without any kind of tune. After i had the downpipe professionally welded in by a shop i received a bunch of codes cause there is a lot more airflow now and my car isn't programmed for that so its going crazy. most of the codes came after the shop installed the downpipe, can you just tell me if i can fix these with a tune that will regulate my air/fuel maps again or do i really have a problem? i have already replaced the oxygen sensor in the header (bank 1 sensor 1) when i bought the car last august. the codes that i got were:
P0102 - Mass Airflow Circuit Low Input
P0135 - Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 1
P0443 - Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted
- IS THIS A VACUUM LEAK??
P0833 - Clutch Pedal Switch 2 Circuit
P0036 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit Sensor 2
These are all 5 codes i threw in my cobalt, the emissions one I've had since i bought the car, a mechanic said it could quite possibly be a hole in my gas tank, is that possible? I've already replaced my gas cap cause my on dash display kept telling me to "check gas cap" so I'm not sure whats going on and it would be really appreciated if you guys can help me, i know a little about cars but i am new to a chevys so please help me guys, thanks.
Can i solve most of these with just a Tune? Im going to ZZP in mid april to get the LSJ 1.0 PCM with a dyno tune. Keep in mind, my car has never been tuned.

First make sure your emissions fuse isn't popped in the fuse box under the hood.
It's labeled as EMS or EXH, I forget. It's a 10 amp fuse.
Evap Solenoid is the canister thing to the left of the fuse box.

Here is a link on how to check the evap solonoid..they are using an LNF but it should be the same principle...

P0135 - Possible O2 going out or bad wiring
P0443 - Key word there is SHORTED. So maybe bad sensor or wiring
P0833 - Maybe a bad switch
P0036 - Same as P0135. Check that stuff
I would suggest to CLEAR them and wait for them to reappear. Some could just be hiccups.
Thanks guys, i removed the codes via my interceptor, any of the codes that could have came back due to the downpipe have come back but the clutch pedal one is gone for now, ill keep you posted if anything changes.
