Check Gas Cap?

i keep getting this message. it started about 3 days ago and everyday since then it just randomly comes on. i get out and check it and its still tight. um...

no evap leak is what that causes not vacuum, has it thrown a code yet? if so what code?

the only real reason you have to make sure its tight is because the evap system detects it as a evap leak and genrealy throws code but being that these are "newer" cars maybe it can tell the differnce between a acual leak in the system and an open gas cap?

if its tight and still does it it needs a new gas cap. if your under warrenty take it to the dealer, they will replace it for you

All over the car, its the system that pressurizes the fuel tank to check for fuel vapor leaks.

As posted above, most likely a bad gas cap. If that doesn't fix it, there is a leak in the lines somewhere. Have the dealer fix it, should be covered under 8/80 federal emissions warranty.

same thing happened to me..it was under warranty and i took it to the dealer 2 times..they did a smoke test to check for leaks..nothing the first time and finally it leaked the 2nd time and they replaced it for free

Bumping a thread here, i'm having the same thing happen to me on my 07 ss/sc. No codes just the gas cap message comes on every once in a while. OP, did you take it to the dealer yet? Do they need to see the message before they replace the gas cap?

im going tomorrow i have been busy. but i have an appointment set. i just got a check engine light and its saying large Evap leak now. so there going to fix that too
