Cleaned Throttle Body... Now Throttle is Hanging

I know there are a few threads already about this issue but absolutely none of them can give me a clear answer.

Yesterday I was bored so i thought I'd take my GMPP intake off and clean the inside of the piping and throttle body with a rag and some throttle body cleaner. I put everything back on and tightened it down (there's not that much stuff to miss) and took it for a ride. Idle was a little off and the throttle was hanging. And by hanging, I mean when i threw the car into neutral and coast, it rose from 1500 or wherever I got out of gear, up to about 2800-3000 and either stayed there or came back down. So I did the idle relearn procedure and the idle is fine now, at about 800 at a stop sign or just starting the car. The only problem I now have is the Hanging when i'm driving. When I shift gears, It hangs then too.

Just to be clear, I do not have a vacuum leak. Everything is tight

Solutions range from PCM reflash ($90) to getting a new throttle body, to just driving it around like that. I can't find a clear cut answer.

If anyone has had this experience, please let me know how you fixed it. I greatly appreciate it.

How long has it been, because it's normal for the throttle to hang for awhile after you clean it. At least that's what I've read and experienced myself.

It's not even been 24 hours yet. So I should drive around like that? Is it safe?

But you had the same problem then it resolved itself out?

Yes, I can't remember how long it took to remedy itself, because last time I cleaned my TB was last summer, but it did do it. RPMs were hanging at 1500 in neutral coast.

Alright, I was gonna have my mechanic buddy take a look to make sure everything is hooked up correctly. Then i'll just drive it around like that until summer roles around. If it's still hanging, i'll get it reflashed at the dealership. I will keep this thread updated so that maybe it'll help somebody else out later one.

My RPM's are no longer climbing when i pop the car into neutral from any gear, but it is still hanging a little before resolving down slowly to 800 as i coast. All in all, an improvement from last night. I'll keep you posted.

Do you guys think I messed up any of the electronics in the throttle body by moving the butterfly by hand? I have a guy with a used TB off a 2.4 I can get for $50... DO you think I should get it?

It ran like **** until I disconnected the battery and relearned the idle. Now it's kind of ok. It just hangs a little. I bet after a few cycles it'll learn itself back to normal.

Doubt that. If it "hangs" at 3000rpm then there's a vacuum leak. The only hang it'll have is between shifts but if you put it in N it still idles normally

The hang has gotten less and less. I used to pop it into neutral, and it would actually rise from 1500 to 3000rpm. Now, the rising is gone, and it just stays for about half a second and slowly comes back down to idle while i'm coasting. No vacuum leaks anywhere.
