Clock Spring Help

Do you usually lose all of your steering features, when your clock spring gets overextended? I changed my rack and pinion, and the steering wheel was moved. After I got everything back together, the AB light came on. Everything on the wheel worked fine. I just had that stupid light on.

I replaced the clock spring tonight, and got it all back together, but the damn light is still on! Do you have to do something to reset it, or was the clock spring I got bad? All the steering wheel features work fine.

Clock Spring Help

My light is still on after i replaced mine. I believe you just have to go to a dealer so they can remove the code. I just never got around to doing it.

Generally restraint system DTC's have to be cleared manually with a scan tool. Not positive but most decent one's should do it without a trip to the dealer.... If you have the access to one.

Ahh really? That's sucks. I was hoping to plug it in and go :p Do the scanners at the parts stores do that, or do you need a better scanner?

A basic scan tool won't do it but any shop that has a snap on scanner or something equivalent can do it and it takes less than 5 minutes so if they charge anything it shouldn't be much

Clock spring was replaced. No scan tools necessary. The light went off the first time I fired it up, after I replaced the clock spring.
