Clutch going bye bye?

I am having a slight problem which I think might be caused by the clutch being worn.

It's on a 2006 SS/SC

The problem: When I am driving at highway speeds in 3-5th gear and I floor it the engine will spool up without the car moving any faster, then it will spool down a bit and finally start going. It feels as though I had the clutch disengaged when I hit the throttle and then I engage it shortly after.

That seems to me like the clutch is slipping. Any other ideas?

Also, is a clutch job on these cars doable? I'd like to save the 700$ in Labor that I would have to pay a dealer.

Thanks for any advice.

yes, that right there is clutch slippage. do-able, yes, depends how handy you are and if you have the right tools or not. also I bet your dealer would charge you over $1000

If its slipping that bad Check the fluid level,If its low then it may be leaking onto the clutch meaning the case is cracked.(Generally caused buy torsional stress from wheel hop)
Hopefully not.

You are talking about the transmission fluid, I am assuming?

Also, this started happening after I got an oil change, would there be the possibility that through some major mess up this could have cause oil or something else to get in the clutch housing?

And one more thing. If I am going to replace the clutch would it more likely be the clutch disc and pressure plate or the flywheel, or all three that causes the problem?

the only way it could even be possible..............maybe for the oil change to mess it up would be if they put 10 quarts of oil in it, even then, dont think that would ever get in there...

if it is the clutch change the flywheel/whole clutch kit etc... get lightweight and a stage 2 clutch youll be happy and make sure u break it in for 1k... dont do the minimum. how many miles do u have on the car? im guessing this is stock clutch

Stock clutch shouldn't be shot in 33k unless it was abused...

Yeah, mine has about 45K on it, I just got the car about 3 months ago, I'm kinda pissed, maybe the guy before me didn't know how to drive stick very well. I already saw some suggestions for clutches up in this thread. Anything that I should keep in mind or look out for when I replace this?

If you reuse the stock flywheel have it resurfaced. Use a new throw out bearing, don't reuse.
