Clutch issue
I was backing out from work this evening, when I pushed down on the clutch pedal, I heard something metal snap under my foot. I stopped and looked around and found a thin grey S shaped piece of medal on the floor. I'm not totally sure what it is. The top of it clearly looks like it snapped, but I can't see anything that it would connect too.
The clutch still works, engages fine, etc. But there is virtually no resistance to the clutch pedal now, it goes straight to the floor when I push it in. Again, the car is running fine and is driveable, aside from it being a bit of a pain to find first gear. Sooo.
Does anyone know what this is? Is it something that I can fix, or will I have to take it in? Am I doing more potential damage to the car/clutch by still driving on it?
I'll to take a picture of the piece when I get home, it's about as thick as hanger wire and probably isn't any longer than my finger.
Thanks guys.

The clutch goes straight to the floor, no resistance when looking to shift. More than anything, I think my timing is just off, i'm not used to the loose pedal so I can't find my spot to shift. I'd like to get it fixed ideally, if it's expensive though and i'm not hurting the car anymore by driving it, I might just deal with it for now.

Don't worry about it. Its a spring for pedal feel. You probably can't keep your cruise control on though. The pedal has a tendency to fall to its pressure position (or whatever that is called) without the spring and the cruise control deactivates. Mine broke a couple months ago and I never replaced it.
