clutch slipping- how to prevent

Hello, im new to this site obviously, just got back from iraq after serving a full one year tour, and i ordered me a 2006 chevy cobalt ss s/c while in iraq, that a way i didnt have to pay sales tax , but anyways i keep hearing that the main problem with these cars are the clutches, im going to heavily modify my car with the money i have saved up, and was wondering what the best clutch would be to go with? so whomever here has a different clutch other than stock, tell me what you think of it and the name of it and price, thankz

Ive got almost 4000 miles on mine and the clutch slips somewhat randomly. Some peple have no problems at all, adn some people seem to have for awhile and then never again. And if you are really unlucky your clutch will totally blow out wihtin the first 3000 miles. I thing some cars just get a bad clutch or pressure plate from the factory, but very hard to get GM to fix seems to be the biggest issue. I am getting the clutchmasters clutch for my car. The have a good rep amoung alot of streetracers. The kit runs between 500-650 dollars depending on which one you get and where you get it from. Then you have to pay install, I have a guy doing mine for $250.00, and I would also lock into a after marke LSD if you did not get LSD package with the car. Just some advice, there are a lot of great clutches out there.

First of all, thank you for your service.

If it was me I would just wait until you have trouble to worry about it. Some of them seem to be ok. If it starts slipping after a short time and you're going to put a clutch in it anyway, I would probably smoke that bitch real bad then bring it to the dealer and see if they will fix it under warranty. If they do, great. If not, well you were going to put a clutch in it anyway so you didn't lose anything. Maybe you could even work a deal out to have them put in the aftermarket clutch you wanted.......
