Clutch Squeaking

After a couple searches I came up empty handed. My question is is it common for the clutch pedal to squeak? It happens on occasion and I am just curious before I go to the dealer and don't need to. I feel it's more of a dirt in the pedal lever problem than anything with the clutch. If it even remotely can be involving the clutch I'll make a run to the dealer. I'd call them, but nearly everytime they care either A: clueless or B: trying to fix the wrong thing. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem, so it will be interesting to see what others have done to remedy this!

My Redline clutch squeeks. It is actually at the dealer today and they are looking at the clutch. I will let you know what they say when I talk to them this afternoon. I know this is a pretty common problem with the Redline so I would imagine the SS has the same clutch assembly.

Mine only squeaks when it is cold out and it hasn't warmed up. After about 10 minutes of driving it goes away. I'd say it only happens when it is less than 40 degrees F.

if its the pedal it self , just use some white lithium (spelling) grease , and spray it on the piviot points for the pedal , that should take care of it

Not normally the pedal. Most are talking about the sound the Clutch disk makes with the Flywheel and Pressure palte. It's not normally loud but can spook a person if they have never heard it before..

Brian MP5T , that is what i was going with , plus being a ex gm certified tech(dont work at chevy no more) ive had to spray alot of pedals on cars and trucks for pedal squeaks

i also agree with the pressure plates noises can be rather odd at times , plus the noise from the manual trans when pedal is moved

the 04 redline my friend had said the trans made odd noises when the pedal was released in neutral , and the 05 he has now doesnt make them at all (why he had a 04 and now has a 05 is a long story for another time)

I'm sure 98% of people that mention this problem mean the pedal itself. Mine does it as well, specifically when cold, as cited above.

Well this is good info to know. Cuase i should have been more clear about it, the pedal is what squeaks. And after some observation, usually when cold. Thanks guys.

Mine squeaks too. Took it to the dealer because the passenger door needs to be aligned and mentioned the clutch pedal squeak and they ordered a clutch pedal assembly. They said the other cobalts didn't squeak, think they just want to do some work?

My pursuit was squeking like a bitch. I took it in to get fixed. They lubed some stuff up, and I was on my way. Nothing major, was in and out in an hour tops. Take it in, thats what a warranty is for!!

I called them back and asked how long it would take to get the cluch pedal assy, they said they didn't have a date, so I told them forget about it and fix my door, I have an appt. for wednesday to drop it off at the body shop they use.

squeak

They had sprayed some lube up in the clutch pedal assy. and now I only hear the safety switch click. Got the door aligned. While they were working on it they gave me a new 06 Malibu with a V6 auto and 4 wheeel disc. Car looks like grandma's, but I was impressed with the performance.
