clutch wont disengage?

Hello! I have always kind of just snooped on this site looking for answers, and I have usually found them, but this time I think i need a little more help, and I feel like i should try to contribute a bit haha. Sorry for how long this is going to be, i just wanna get all the information on my problem as i can

Ok, so last January the clutch in my 2006 cobalt Ls with the 2.2 went out, car was at roughly 68000 miles, so i figured itd end up going out. Had my mechanic do it just because i didnt have time, that cost me 950$. So last monday i was taking my car to go fishing, and thanks to some wonderful Wisconsin winter, i got stuck in a 2 foot snow drift. woohoo. Well, in the process of getting unstuck, my clutch stopped working. No loud noises, no burning clutch smell or anything. So after a half hour of profanity and what not, i had my uncle come pull me out so i could access the situation. The clutch pedal felt fine, stiff as usual. so i looked under the hood, and around the bleeder for the slave cylinder was completely packed with snow. Cleared that all out and everything seemed fine. so i figured id try to start it, threw it in neutral and she started up. try to shift into first gear, wont go. so i started to get confused. turned her off, and started it IN first gear... Not my favorite idea but it worked... the only problem is, i start it in first, even with the clutch pedal to the floor it started rolling immedietly, and when i press the clutch down nothing happens, it just keeps rolling, which seemed like a hydraulic issue to me. So i began driving it in first gear, and when i went to shift into second, it obviously wouldnt go. But then i tried power shifting/rev matching whatever you want to call it, and if i matched the RPMs it would go into the next gear, i am able to do this all the way to 5th. This is the part that makes me feel like it is something other than the clutch... going down the road in 5th gear, the clutch doesnt slip at all, same with any other gears. EXCEPT, if i am in a gear going down the road, if i press the clutch pedal down, it doesnt slow down or anything, the rpms stay at what they were, but if i press the clutch pedal, AND the accelerator pedal, the RPMs spike, but the car doesnt speed up at all? It's like it tries to disengage but it doesnt. So today i tested the master and slave cylinders, they both seemed okay to me... So my question for you guys is, what do you think the problem could be? any suggestions on something to try? thanks!

the way youre describing it doesnt sound like your clutch is FULLY disengaging but that it may be partially disengaging. Could be a TOB issue id look for and leaked fluid. Clutch definitely sounds like its dragging though.

Could have a faulty tob. I know everyone will say it's tob they always do with these cars. What clutch did u install? I have heard that it's a 50/50 chance with the LNF throwout bearings. So if u got the gmpp clutch or have an LNF and installed the stock clutch kit that may be your issue. Really sucks to hear man.

i havnt been able to see any leaking fluid :/ and honestly I have no idea what clutch got put in it because i had my mechanic do it because i didnt have the time last year. I just really hope its not the clutch itself because i dont got the money for that right now, broke college student haha. i suppose the only way to find out for sure is to take it all apart... really dont want to do that right now though, no heated garage and this winter is cold up here. ugh

uhh well just kidding. new slave and master cylinder, then after that my mechanic figured out it was the clutch, the pressure plate was faulty we believe.... soo new slave/master cylinder, and a clutch kit for 600$, and last year i paid 950 or so for the clutch to be done. so i dunno if thats a reasonable price, seems like it to me :P
