Cobalt in the chill
Not sure how cold it gets where you live but the winters here in Yellowknife can get well below -40 Celsius (-40 F) for up to a month!!
I have a oil pan heater and block heater installed. I am pleased to say that there are no problems at -35 but after -40 things get a bit tricky.
Because the battery is located in the trunk it is near impossible to get a battery blanket installed. I have an 2006 SS sedan but only had a problem this winter because it dropped to -46 for about 2 weeks. I went through 2 batteries in 3 weeks. (thank god for warranty) The reason I am writing this post though is because I found a solution!
connect a trickle charger to your battery and keep the battery charged all night! Basically it just connects to your block heater plug and oil pan heater. Then one plug does it all.
--figured someone else may be looking for a solution...
