Coolant Really High
Coolant Really High
Ok so I've never seen it get this high before...

I'm also running and injen CAI. Usually it is around 196. I might have been driving it kind of hard today but it was only 85 degrees outside. I had a problem last week where my car shut off on me in 95 degree weather after I started it and drove about 10 feet. I think my thermometer might have a problem but it's under warrenty. Next thing is f I bring it in does anyone think I should take off the injen and go back to stock or will they probably not bother me for that?

I've had my coolant that high. In fact, I was stuck in traffic one time (4th of july fireworks) and I hit like 224...very bad...but once I got moving it came down and I was fine. I would say watch it and see if it's consistent. and pay attention to how much stop and go you're doing. If your car stalled out then you probably have a real issue. I would watch it for a day or two. If it keeps up, take it in. and they shouldn't give you a hard time about the cai. It really doesn't affect the cooling system. I guess to be safe you can switch it back to stock, especially since it's an easy swap. but unless you have a really dick dealership, they shouldn't say anything.

Usually...dealers won't void a warranty for an intake unless it's related (MAF, T/B, S/C etc), but if you're in the NYC area dealers here tend to be complete and useless ******** (actually service managers) and devoid of any ability to know what they're talking about and/or working on so take your chances or go back to the stock setup.
I get around 175-200 most days but I'm running a ton of **** in my car...that's coolant temp not intake temps. My intake temps can be odd some time never over 160 though.
I'm pretty sure GM wants you to turn the A/C off when the car is overheating. Most likely due to slightly more load on the engine making the temperature go even higher. It's in the manual somewhere.
Actually those 200-220* COOLANT temps are normal for this car.
If you see it rise much more than that, turn your heat on for a bit that will kick the thermostat open!
IAT temps are completely unrelated to the COOLANT temps.... for us SS/SC guys the car yanks timing after 160* IAT2

If you turn on the AC the fans will kick on and cool the coolant down to the 180's F .
That is normal because the cooling fans are not designed to activate until the water hits about 225. Our cooling system is a pressurized system so it can take the heat. If you run your AC then your temps will not get that high. My temps never go above 185 when driving and that is with 100 plus temperatures in Texas, but if I stop and do not have my AC running the temps will climb quickly. Don't worry, it is normal.
