Ok, I have a squealing noise coming from my 2006 cobalt ss. Only when I mash the gas. I had it checked and they say I have a hairline crack in the pipe mentioned in the title. He said I had two issues. One if it was made one way, it would only cost me 170 with labor but another way, it would be over 1k. I called the dealership and they quoted me 1400. WTF. What is the deal? Anybody know what they are talking about?

 

flex section in the down pipe?

the pipe to the left/bottom is the stock lsj one. the "accordion" piece is the flex section.



So I would just get an aftermarket downpipe if you can, be cheaper and flow better. Maybe stay catted to try and keep the cel away.

 

yea just go aftermarket, and install yourself.. it would be much cheaper than the 1k or 1400

 

Buy a new downpipe for 2-300 and replace it yourself. Can be done on jacks very easily.
