Whats this ive seen in a couple threads about the CPU having to relearn after installing a new crankshaft position sensor.
the posts and info ive found is a little old. Wonder if anyone has more recent experience etc.. The car faulted the po335 again today. I unhooked the battery cleared the code with the Torque app and the car started and drove fine and I was able to get home. i got the part the other day even though i cleared it that time also just in case it happened again (like it did today)

 

if it needs a crank angle relearn it generally throws that code

 

is this something that generally happens with new CPS's on non E67 ecu's? ive never encountered this and ive had 3 different CPS.

Ok but why would it need a relearn when I havent done anything to it yet..are u saying after I install the part it would need the relearn? Thanks for moving my post BTW.

 

the machining from block to block and the mass production of the sensors can be off causing the pcm to see a different crank angle vs new sensor

 

K gotcha..I think..if/when I install new sensor ill do the relearn..a buddy said its outlined how to do in the GM cobalt engine build book..true?

 

i know HPTuners can do it, just did it on my car for ***** and giggles

 

Could this relearn cause damage if not done?
