Cruise Control Failure

Ok so when I bought my 06 SC I SWEAR the cruise worked on the way home, but shortly after it stopped. Sometimes the "cruise engaged" would flash but it never would truly engage. I few months ago I got in fixed, I am assuming they just replaced the component that controls that but I would have to look, and all was well until a week or so ago. Now its doing the same thing it did when I got it. Before I replace it again, is this a common issue? Im thinking something else is at play, like a short some where else, frying out the component that controls the cruise. Any suggestions?

Hello Dunedain05,

I'm sorry to hear that your cruise control isn't operating correctly. I would happy to assist you into the dealership to see if they can look into this further. Please send me a PM with your VIN, current mileage, contact info and a preferred dealership so I can better assist. Thanks!

My curse stopped working last winter after I got stuck and was shifting from 1st to reverse a lot to try and rock my way out, I just disconnected the battery for about an hr to reset everything and it worked after I did that.

Try pulling up the clutch pedal with your foot before engaging the cruise and see if that works.. If it does, it's that damn switch up high.

I always had to wedge my foot under the pedal if I wanted to cruise for an extended period of time

I can't remember where i found it, but a thread on this forum said that if the clutch was fully depressed X (i can't remember the actual #) of times, then it would disengage cruise control functionality. pulling the negative battery terminal for fifteen minutes fixed it for me.

Well my SS was in the shop, replacing a shear pin that snapped on off my shifter, and he took a look at the cruise and didnt find anything wrong. However when I got it back none of my pre set radio stations worked. So for some reason, at some point, they disconnected the battery and all is fine now. So that seems to be the solution. Thanks for the other tips too!

A few years back in my G5, the cruise control was acting up.
Then would never start about a month later.
Turned out the computer took a downfall….

I don't think that's your problem though

Burnt out brake light will also prevent it from working

This ^ right on the money it's very common in our cars. Mine does it to I do what he does and pull the clutch pedal back a bit because it doesn't retract as far as it does as when I bought it brand new lol, and it will engage. Hope it helps.
