Very loud Clacking/Knocking sound at Idle (Goes away)

Ok, so i've been getting this very bad knocking noise from the (if staring at the front of the car) left side of the motor. It sort of sounds like it may be coming from where I believe the Timing Chain Tensioner to be, but someone else said it could be the Coupler from the supercharger. I haven't had a chance to listen to it for that long though.

As I said in the Title, As soon as I rev the car up a little bit, or start driving, this knocking sound goes away until the next time I shut the car off. Would this be an indication of the Tensioner?

It's getting much worse now, i'm hearing it a bit while driving now, and it's happening at idle a lot more.

Each time I drive the car, it's getting progressively worse. Which REALLY sucks considering I have to use the car

Go let it idle and get us a video under the hood. The timing chain should be pretty dang obvious.

Sounds a lot like the timing chain tensioner is failing. Get one and change it now before you break something or the chain jumps.

The part is cheap but you have to pull the valve cover off. There are several write ups on the site that cover this.

^^ from what I've read you don't have to take the valve cover off the new design tensioner is plug and play but like I said its what I read. There is another thread about putting the tensioner in but the person just threw a code. I'm still trying to figure it out because I need it done as well

It's 31 bucks btw and also I've read sometimes your chain can be stretched and could jump timing but if you fix it earl you can just replace the tensioner. From what your describing id look into Changing the chain as well

I just did this this weekend. You don't have to take of the valve cover, but if you do you can look down and check the timing chain guide as the bolts are known to snap or back out. I looked down and this is what I saw. and required immediate repair. The bolt backed out and the timing chain guide had broke. So glad I took the VC off and caught it when I did. So take the 15 mins to take off the VC and check. Good luck.

What does it sound like? It could be the supercharger coupler.

He found the issue... but you must pull the head or take the chance of the chain jumping. There are several write ups and one is REALLY good! but all pull the valve cover and zip tying the chain to the gears.
