Dang wind
Dang wind
So a gust of wind ripped my door out of my hand today causing my door to hit the car next to me. This car was freakin plastic, but it bent the edge of my door. Man what weak metal..... Should I take it to a body shop or should I just grab a block of wood and a hammer?
forget paying a body shop for what you can do for free with a block of wood, a hammer, and about 10 minutes. although you probably should heat up the paint with a hair dryer or heat lamp before tweaking it.
that is pretty weak... how much did it bend? got pics?

Do not listen to this idiot. Do not take a block of wood to it. Do not heat the paint. That ******* has no idea what he is talking about. I would like to know why he thins you need to heat the paint. Body work is more than just banging it out. I manage a collision center and see the do it yourselfers all the time who thought they could repair and and made it worse than it was. Please take it to a professional.
There is a really good dent guy in town who does paintless repair. I think I am gonna run it down to him. He worked on my sister's car and took out a ton of dents, and he does an awesome job. Ugh, I hate wind so much. Now I am definitely gonna get the lambo doors like I planned.....

Paintless dent repair is a good way to go if they can do it. I am not going to knock that. I would not do the lambo doors though. I am just talking from experience.
kenhebe, id hate to see what kind of money your shop would charge for such a simple repair. ive learned the paintless dent repair techniques and unless this guy's door edge is bent back at some severe angle, theres no reason it cant be bent back under a heat lamp. yes i was over-simplifying when i said "heat it and bang it with a block of wood" but i have massaged out many dents successfully.
