dealer stated the main computer shorted out
ok question the dealer that i go to has had my car for a month and they finally found out the main computer had shorted out....... also in the testing process my car killed the testing computer so ive spoke to other service departments from ford and dodge and they stated if my cars main computer when and cased there test computer to die the car is unsafe to fix. does any one have any ideas about the subject or what i should do GM said they cant replace it>>" and im over the lemon law miles"
the problems started with electical things going bad and then the car's RPM's dropped down to 0 and if i hit the gas it wouldnt move and then i would let go of the pedal and hit it again wouldnt work then push hard and it woud shot up to 5,000 RPM's and then i was driving down the interstate at 10 pm and the car shut off by its self all lights when out to and had to put it in neutral and restart it and they did all the test gm told them to checked all the wires and they cant find it so i brought to another dealer and they did same no luck then brought it were i got the car and they did it to found nothing then i was like im not driving it till u find out why it did what it did and they had a specialist come in to look and the main computer is what he found wrong with it so i dont know what to to its under warranty but if that went bad and all the other electrical things ive had go wrong what should i do i cant trade im upside down to much
?
This problem is almost unheard of. PCMs usually dont just short out for no reason. Your dealership should put a new PCM in it, and if it shorts again then they definatly over looked something in the wiring harness. I'm suprised they didnt scan check the car for any DTCs.
they have had my car for 1.5 months they said they have tried everything and the pcm was the onlything they could find when starting the car it wasnt sending any codes they tried an up date and then the car wouldnt work at all
not sure if this is going to help you or not but in england we have a simmilar problem with vectra's the revs drop and the dash board fails all bar a few things theres no lights come up or anything we have worked out that its the alternator over charging it plays havoc with the electrics and eventually causes alot of damage if not sorted out qwickly i bet the dealer hasent even checked the alternator as it doesent bring up any lights or codes.
hopefully that is of some help to you.
