You can replace just the 1 injector with no issues, however, once the other injectors are removed it is strongly advised to replace the seals or you run the risk of compression loss.

thanks for reply 09cobaltss1.let me make sure i understand fully your response, yes it is possible to replace only the #2 cyl injector?so that when the fuel rail is disconnected, the other 3 injectors will not be disturbed? i really only want to deal with the one injector and not have to replace the seals on the other 3. thanx again

When I pulled my fuel real, I believe all of the injectors stayed in the head. It's a very tight fit!

so we started the disassembly of fuel rail to try and change out #2 injector.we realized soon enough that it is impossible to just change out the one injector with out removing the other three because they are all attached to fuel rail with clips that can only be removed once rail has been taken off of block, and the injectors come out of block attached to rail!so no you cannot just change one injector without disturbing the other three!!so now i have to get seal installer tool and new seals to replace the other three injectors seals just to replace the #2 injector.am i wrong???? also...2009 cobalt ss 2.ol

The clips are just there to support the injectors. They don't hold the injector to the rail. Sometimes the injectors stay in the head and sometimes they stay in the rail.

All of the seals should be replaced.

When you remove the rail, you'll see that they're more like spacers. Since you're already this far, may as well replace the seals. If the injector comes out with the rail, then they probably needed replacing anyways.
