DIC..."Low Coolant"??

I was wondering about this because i get this about every day when it's about 20 degrees and then once the car warms up it goes away. Only when it's cold out... it was 40 the other day and never came on.. Weird.. Anyone else get this?

when it was on, did you actually take a second and check the coolant?

lowe coolant

I have gotten the low coolant message a couple of times also when it was cold at startup. I have checked my cooland when the engine was both warm and cold, both readings were good. I haven't given much thought to it since it goes away in 20 seconds. I am interested to see how many people have this problem.

on my 98 and 96 Cavalier 2.2L's, the 'switch' (whatever) in the resevoir would stick sometimes in the cold... once it warmed up, the low coolant light would go out.

Yea.. it's fine... I was reading somewhere when you take it into the dealer and they clear the codes that it gets updated or something to fix that problem.. Maybe it's a bug

Is there a certain kind of Dexcool to use??

My low Coolant light just popped on tonight, twice, I was going to take it to the dealer. I figure i can get it for free there, or just do it myself.

All i have to do is just top it off with dexcool? but is there a certain kind?

No certain kind.. DEXCOOL is the kind to use for GM vehicles. Any brand will do as long as it is DEXCOOL

we're suppose to use a mixture of 50/50 dexcool and water. GM states that our coolant is suppose to last for 5yrs/150,000miles...BULLSHIT.

i got the light too when its really cold out and the coolant is a lil low. 5yrs my *******

ps. all this info is in ur manual

just slap some dexcool in it... don't worry about the mix unless you're really really low...
