Driver Side door doesn't open?

Just like the title says, i've had the 06 ss/sc for almost three years now, has almost 36k miles, so warranty is almost up.

Problem has occurred twice now, where the door will be unlocked, but the handle will not release the latch. it feels like the handle is not attached to anything, just sitting there. It has happened with me on the inside and outside (i've had to climb out the passenger door and out of my window on different occasions).

I guess i'm looking to see if anyone else has had this problem, bc when i take it in to the dealership to get looked at under warranty, if they can't replicate the problem, they can't fix it. Soo i was wondering if anyone here has had the same problem, and knows where to look to fix it, so i can direct the stealership in the right direction.

Any help is appreciated.

bump

had that happen to me too. It is the latch in the door acting up and it is happening when the door is either locked or unlocked when you shut it.

Door problem?

Have you had the door panel off for any reason? If so maybe the person reinstaling it didnt secure the cable that operates the door latch back into the handle. Or since it most likely is made of plastic it could have just failed. Take it to the dealer and have them replace the door handle assembly and the cable. If its still under warranty they shouldn't bitch to much pending the panel is still a virgin and it was never removed. Good luck

Yeah, the latch just needs some grease. I used to have that issue alot and the grease made it a rare occurrance.

Basically what occurs is the latch won't unstick and the interior handle doesn't have enough leverage to open it. When it would do it to me, I would roll the window down and pull on the outside door handle a few times and the interior one would work again.
