E-brake does not hold

My wife came home tonight with the car and pulled the e-brake but it did not stay up. The e-brake works but it does not stay up or click at all. I searched out and found some threads on this. The threads that I found all said that the part was on backorder but these threads were all pretty old. I was wondering what the end result was from people that have had this problem. I have to call the dealer tomorrow to schedule it to be fixed and would like any info you can give me so that I am prepared for it. Thanks

Take apart the center console and see if something slipped loose. Ive head of the cable slipping loose, so maybe something that engages the lever is in there some where.
