ecu fried??warranty?

i have 09 cobalt ss, i got a tune from hp tuners awhile back from this guy who couldnt tune ended up cracking pistons he ended up putting stock tune back on for the warranty... got the car back drove around for a 1000 miles decided to get a better tune, so he takes the stock tune from my car and when he uploads his tune we try goin for a drive and the car wont turn on and the check engine light is flashing, so we try everything his hptuners wouldnt conenct to my computer and the check engine light just keeps flashin we disconnected the computer for 15 mins and put back on for 10 mins then tried still flashing the check engine light.. got it towed to the dealership. would you think it will be under warranty? and would they be able to get into the computer?

Yeah right... you guys blew it up.

Best bet would be to find an ECU that was never tuned and pop it in. Hopefully they don't bitch at you. A dealership had a lightly modded SS in for service with a blown engine. The sales manager and I began to be more open and less formal with one another since I was a constantly returning client. He told me ****. He knows when a car was wiped and reprogrammed, when something has been demodded for service, and when the failure was due to a mod. He also told me he doesn't typically fight about it since it brings him business with warranty work and what not. He's a cool guy. He may have been blowing smoke to try and get me to admit something... but there was nothing to admit lol.

Yeah
You're screwed.

That's the price you pay though.

They left my car outside and I was able to drive up at night and get in it for stuff I needed for work. Maybe you can do some **** like that and swap. Crack your ECU lol

sounds like it locked up during the flash.. factory reps should be able to unlock it..but the dealer may just replace it and charge you for it..

you best find a new tuner..

Why would you expect the warrenty to cover it when your tuner fu*ked it up
And they can tell when someone has been fu*king around with it

They might not be able to communicate with it and replace it . BUT .... they will be sending the PCM back to GM ...then who knows.

So you just blew the thing up with a bad tune and got it covered .... and let the same tuner go at it again?

Point is, they were right. They knew, and you got caught. Move on. You're not an idiot, you just violated your warranty. No big deal-it happens. The line is blurry on what will be warrantied and what will not be-depending on how straight edge your dealer is. You just didn't get away with it. Sorry man, but life can get worse.
