Electrical Problems

So...

On sunday i get in my 06 Cobalt LS to go to work, i turn the key, nothing happens...NOTHING, so i take the key out, and check to make sure my kill switch is off (witch it is), so i try again turning the key to accessory this time, the radio turns on fuel pump primes, all gages and lights come on like normal so i get out and go to the trunk check my battery terminal (battery is a 6 cell gel battery, maybe 6 months old), nothing wrong, i get back in the car and turn the key to start and hear the starter clicking but it does not crank (obviously)... i try a fiew more times with no success... so i figure my starter if fried and i call into work... now here is ware things get interesting... i live in florida now ware it rains non stop and usually this means my 2 way alarm goes off all the time but i noticed it had not gone off in a while... so i press the lock button, nothing happens, so i go to the car and open the door, no alarm and no door chime,i go to the trunk and check the battery once again (all seems to be normal), i put the key in the ignition and turn, nothing happens i try to turn the key and take it out but now it is stuck in the ignition, the wheel lock had turned off so i turn the wheel (no motor) and try to take the key out, still stuck,i try to shift to neutral with my foot on the brake but it will not shift from park (im guessing because of no power to the shift release)... i hook jumper cables up to it thinking maybe my battery died some how(i know not likely but it's worth a try) and still nothing happens, now im freaking out because i have no idea what is wrong. my only idea would be a main fuse or something of that nature had popped i am in the process of researching that now but any and all help would be much appreciated... thx

ok, so i just went out and checked every fuse both under the hood and by the passenger side floor board. nothing seems to be wrong, no blown fuses and no signs of burning or heat damage any ware, i would test the cilonoids but i do not have a volt meeter at this time... i realize it was not neccesary to check every fuse but i did any way just to be sure, ... only thing i can think of to do now is take the battery some ware to be checked other than that i am out of ideas

do you have the factory alarm or aftermarket? if your tadio and guadges and fuel pump come on then your battery dosnt sound dead. if you have an aftermarket alarm thats more then likly your problem. check under the dash or where ever it is mounted for all connections, clips, and i belive there is an inline fuse on most alarms now. if its a viper there is deff a inline fuse somewhere. but i oculd be wrong its just a weird situation

It is an autopage 2 way alarm i had put on a year ago, ill check for inline fuses but do you really think the alarm would have the ability to make the car do nothing even when the key is in it (witch it is since it is stuck) and turned? if your thinking the kill switch may have something to do with it i installed it myself and just checked it, everything is fine with it too... like i sed the car seems to be getting no power at all but i am almost positive the battery is not dead, im going to make sure right now

i had an electrical problem with my 06 LS too. turned out it was a loose relay connection. i guess someone decided it would be a good idea to jam a probe in there when i had taken it to the first shop to get it checked and they replaced the ignition control module which kept the car running for about 3 months, then it started getting hot again and the problem happened so we tore apart the fuse box and noticed the connector for the Crank/Run relay was extremely loose, like losing connection over a bump loose. and also that the battery power cable connector had a shitty solder job which was causing that to loose connection as well.

the hardest part of this fix was figuring out how to take the actual fuse box APART, not just taking the top off.

if you have free time one day you should give it a shot.

Sounds like a dead battery.
But if not I would be looking at the ground connections or the crank /run relay.
