Engine Cranks But Won't Start

Hey guys,

I am having a starting issue with my 06 SS/SC. Car has 119,000km (75,000miles) and has been stock it's whole life until I did this about 1000km (2 months) ago:

- ZZP Stage 2 3.0", 42lb injectors
- New HE pump
- Radiator and HE flush
- New OEM fuel filter

In general, the car has been running great but has had two mornings where it didn't start as well as it should, with a little stumble before stabilizing idle. the weather has gotten colder here and has swung form +8C to -5C in the last week. I have been having to top up the HE coolant and am not sure if it's just got tons of air to burp or if it's leaking internally. No smoke from exhaust. no coolant burning smell. I added 200ml last week.

Saturday: drive car to work, runs great
Sunday: start car, move to end of driveway and park it
20 minutes later: cranks and won't start. Sounds like it wants to start but misses/stumbles. will not idle. Occasionally it will increase revs to 1000rpm and then die immediately, in general it will just crank without firing though.

Here's what diagnostics I have done so far:

- Found the EVAP vacuum line loose, reconnected.
- No Codes, at least with Cheap OBD scanner
- Battery voltage good, cranks fine (1yr old)
- Removed battery cables and let sit for a few minutes, retried and no change (did this several times)
- fuel pressure good, 55psi while cranking.
- swapped in re manufactured MAF, no change.
- tested MAF wiring as per **********************************/forum/f16/p0102-code-maf-help-me-please-5827/#post155388
- Attempted unplugging MAF, no change
- Attempted unplugging the other MAP sensors in an attempt to get it to go to open loop...no change
- pulled spark plugs, all look the same - brown and soaked in fuel
- Checked spark on #1, looks good while cranking. didn't check others
- Compression test: #1-#3 were 180 #4 was 165. a little bit of oil brought #4 up to 210, and all the others as well. I would attribute the lower compression to the dry/fuel diluted cylinder walls
- pulled the valve cover. nothing broken it seems. chain is not loose
- In the process of trying to check if the chain has skipped, but there seems to be no easy way to verify this

The way it's behaving makes me think the engine is out of time somehow, or I have a major air starvation issue (throttle body dead and not moving to idle position?) does anybody have any information on this?

any thoughts? I am getting close to taking it to the stealership...

Thanks for the help,
Steve

When mine did this it was the camshaft positioning sensor. It would crank and crank but not start. And when i tried to give it a bit of gas it would misfire at 250rpms but never stay running. Mine threw a code though so im not sure if its ur issue

I was able to get it started tonight. I cleaned the plugs and blew out the cylinders with compressed air and that did the trick.

I shut it off before allowing it to warm up and then restarted, same problem. Then, I cranked it again holding the throttle down to perform a flood-clear and it started again.

I think something is wrong with this ZZP tune. it would explain my awful mileage I've been getting.

Tune or injectors stuck open? Can you swap a stock tune ECU?

tunes dont just go bad, if the plugs are fuel soaked either not getting spark or the engine is flooding itself.
