its under warrenty but they pretty much have no idea on why the coil blew... I pick my baby up on monday, so hopfully shes back to normal

ill update once i get her back

Yea he said something about the spark plug not being seated right. Said it was cross threaded or something and only being held down by 3-4 threads. The Spark plug basically jumped up out of the cylinder and didnt fall into it which is good. They are getting some replacement parts for my bro, and he should be back on the road by Monday. That one coil has TONS of oil all over it. Thats why its so shiney compared to the one laying next to it. I cant help but think that caused this whole scenerio.

I do know that on these aluminum blocks, if you're not careful when changing the plugs, it's very easy to strip those threads, which could also lead to the plug jumping out like that.

I wouldn't try putting the stock parts back on... That is warranty fraud. Not worth voiding your entire drivetrain warranty over. There shouldn't be any reason they wouldn't honor the warranty in this situation.

He is going to have it towed to Saturn tomorrow, but he has Autolite plugs in it. It appears there is a o ring that is right near where the plugs are that is leaking oil, that went down and hit the spark plug and caused this problem. Is he going to have any warranty woes from having non stock spark plugs in the car if he tows it there tonight?

yep thats definately fubar'd...so it just ignited and blew up?

God job, that's why you always reverse thread plugs in until they lock and you should turn it by hand a good 5 times before even thinking about putting a ratchet on it.

Absolutely, I always tighten mine down to snug by hand and then tighten them. I thought we had the first GM Stage kit casuality!

They likely will blame it on the plug or the installation of it. I wouldn't try switching it either. It will not take a rocket scientist to tell that the plug you stick in their was not present when the problem occured.

I would leave it, and get it towed to the dealership. It's possible they may not say anything about it anyhow.

Glad you car got back up and running and fixed under warrenty!

In short for the lazy who don't like to read:

- Blew After market sparkplug out of cylinder...
- Fix under warrenty
- Back on the road and better then ever.
