Engine Randomly Revs On Start-Up..??
Hey guys,
So, just now, when leaving my girlfriends house, I got into the car and the **** revved all by it's self after starting it. lol. I currently have a CEL, and if it's like the last one (just haven't plugged my scanner in yet) it's likely a lean reading from my exhaust leak. And/or from my CAI as it always runs CEL's when I use it as a CAI vs SRI.. But, regardless, I got in, turned the key, it started, and suddenly *broommmm* It revved to about 2,500, then backed off. Is this from the CEL? I've had plenty of CEL's, but never has it once done this.. I'm not "worried" per-say, just curious..
Thanks!

K,I'm,about. to,go to bed but a cel, means hey somthing is wrongso yes the code can let you determine where ure problem,is or close to it.. ure code if anything will be a p0171 p0300 p1182 .. these three cause a rapid idle. If u r not sc'd don't worry about the p1182... check vacuum lines fuel injectors, fueling, and the tps sensor.by ure foot.and throtle body..... ttake it easy.. sorry about. Grammar. I'm using t phone to type... forum texting is the.shiz....

I know what CEL's are. lol. I was just asking if anyone has had this before..
But where else are vacuum lines to this car? It's nothing like my Olds. There were a billion of them, and we ended up removing half..
The one is obvious from the intake the the valve cover, but where else..

If you are still having this problem, try cleaning your throttle body. I had the same issue, and when I had my hvac on and I came to a stop my rpms would drop really low, even a couple of times stalling out. After I cleaned it out, everything was good.

while diving i went around a bend in 2nd but played with the throttle i didn't red line and when i came out its started randomly, rapidly revving till it died then i started it 5 min later and it revs from 750-2000 rapidly i was able to ride the clutch to get momentum and it went away till this A.M. when it was cold it wont go any where i cleaned TB put old intake on and checks all lines for leaks nothing came up. had one code this AM p0101 but it went away now nothing WTF is going on??? plz help or point me in the right direction someone im a ******* noob trying to learn!

A CEL is not going to cause the engine to rev. (Check Engine LIGHT) or MIL (Maitenance Indicator LIGHT)
A Malfunction somewhere is causeing the CEL/MIL to illuminate and is probably causeing the engine to rev.
CEL is not a problem, it's a symptom.
