whats up guys, i have a 07 cobalt ls (5 speed) and recently my check engine light came on so i scanned fro codes and got P0833 - Clutch Pedal Switch B error code. Has anyone ever gotten this error code and is it a serious problem? I heard from some people that is error code is received when people ride the clutch but I really dont so Im not sure why it came on.

Anyway the car is a lease with 30K miles, do you think this would still fall under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and if not, is it an expensive fix.

If the switch is bad, it won't be covered under the powertrain warranty but should be covered under the 36,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty.

Mine went bad outside of the 36,000 mile warranty and had to be replaced. I forget how much the bill was, but the switch was around $10 and they charged me around an hour of labor to install it. The switch is a real pain in the ass to get to and requires a bunch of the dash to be disassembled to replace it.

If the switch is not bad and you were riding the clutch, I understand that you can reset the code by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. This code will disable your cruise control and cause your engine rpms to drop slowly when shifting.

 

Thanks for the reply, i dont have cruise control on my car, what happened was the other nite i was comin off the highway and didnt realize i was still in 5th gear coming to a stop so when the car was about to stall, i hit the clutch pretty hard so i wouldnt stall and thats when the engine light came on.
IF the switch is bad, can i go another week without fixing it, i just dont have the time to bring it to the delaer this week

I had the same code .All it was,was me leaving my foot on the clutch pedal ever so slightly.and the computer thought the switch was shorted out.That wasover a year ago and it never came back on.try to notice if your leaving your foot on the pedal at all

 

Mine goes on and off and my tuner keeps clearing it. I have one of the parts, but I think I bough the wrong one.
