Fans

Does Anyone know how to check the fan relays, to see if they are bad? Tom, tuned my car and has it to where the fans should kick on 20%@ 191deg. and 30%@192deg. and above. My problem is, the fan's wont kick on at the set temp, but when i turn the a/c on they will kick right on? Me and tom are kinda lost, with this. So any ideas?

E-fan relays are typically fail-closed. If the relay was bad, the fan would run all the time. The cooling fan is set to kick on at some ridiculously hi coolant temp like 225°F.

The fans don't work this way. They are either on or off - you can't change them to be a certain percentage on. You are changing the wrong table values to get the fans to come on when you want. You need to change the fan percent tables back to stock setting then change the value under the 0->1 and 1->2 to be one less then the desired temp you want to come on.

i.e. = table looks like:

HTML Code:
192  198  203  207  211  216  221  225  229  234  238  242
 30   35   40   44   48   53   58   63   69   74   79   85
You change 0->1 to 29 = first fan kicks on at 192
change 0->1 to 39 = first fan kicks on at 203
change 1->2 to 57 = both fans come on at 221

Also - if you change 0->1 to 40 the fans will not kick on until 207 (hence why the values must be one LESS then the value in the table when you want the fan to come on)

Don't forget to change the 2->1 and 1->0 tables to appropriate values as well or the fans won't turn off correctly either.

you can always try reflashing. Sometimes that will fix some strange problems.

That's my last idea. Just reflash the tune.
