First CEL: Yes, I did scan it!

Alright, so on with the weirdness.

First the car is completely stock engine-wise, has only 8000km on it and runs fine.

It's winter here but for the last two days it's been warm so it's foggy and raining instead of being -20C like it is normally.

Anyways, earlier today I got home from a normal 20min commute, park the car and eat.

About 1hr later I leave, and WTF? The CEL is on.

I turn the car off and back on again and the damn light is still there. Since it runs fine I go to the appointment I had at the hairdresser and then come back home.

So after this I take my dashhawk and start the car again, 4 cranks and I still get it.

I log it and it says P0451 Emission something Malfunction

so I'm like wtf? and I clear it, turn the car off and turn it back on, it didn't pop back up.

But after some searches it seems like the P0451 is fuel tank pressure related? which isn't what my dashhawk reported at all.

this gets me confused, also is it normal / dangerous?

should I get it checked at the dealer? I don't want to go and waste my time there..

Uh, yeah have it checked by a dealer! Why are you guys so afraid to use the warranty! That is what they give you those for!

Have it checked out and taken care of, properly!

Check your gas cap. It may not be snug. the fuel system on these cars as you probably know is pressurized and if the gas cap which is normally the problem is not tight it will throw that code.

If you take it to the dealer I bet that's what they will tell you.

Here is what the code means:

P0451 Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Range/Performance

PS. here is a link to the aeroforce DTC codes list

http://www.aeroforcetech.com/files/P...uble_codes.txt

cheers

If it is a loose cap they'll probably charge you for it. I would just tighten it up clear the code and see if it returns, if not then that is what is was. If it comes back then you have other issues and book it in.

ha yeah it was reported as "Evaporative Emission System Malfunction"

I'll check that out, didn't fill up since a few days though.

Thanks for your help guys, I didn't want to waste my time going at the dealer for this, if it's just that.

..which hopefully it is!

:P
