First problem with my 06 SS/SC
First problem with my 06 SS/SC
i just noticed today that the drivers side door doesnt lock with the button on the remote keypad nor on the button on the door. it will lock with the key on the outside of the door tho. 4 days old and already a problem (nothing big but none the less....sigh).
grrr! thought this was supposed to be a new car! went out driving today and noticed the "coolant" display in the message center read "----F". wtf? ive also noticed that the fans seem to be running continuous. does anyone know what is going on with this? bad sensor and rans are running as a fail safe? also, my CEL is on. car has 400 miles on it. if anyone has any ideas...please shout em out. thanx
Co27SSKid, dont let me discourage you from getting the car. i LOVE the damn thing. its a blast to drive. being that its only been in production for 2 years, i expect some problems down the road and all. its probally something stupid like a loose connector. im going to take it to autozone and have them scan the code and maybe, hopefully, it is something stupid and i can just take care of myself by pushing in a loose connector. (crosses fingers).
why go there when everything is under warranty...AutoZone hires stupid ex-cons...(sorry if anyone on here works there) lol...But I would much rather have GM work on my car then even let them look at my ****
There's a built in feature where the driver side door won't lock to avoid you locking your keys in your key. Is your key completely removed from the ignition? If so, then it sounds like a minor computer glitch, just take it to the dealer and it'll be fixed no problem.
yea, with the key out, door shut and i press the alarm pad to lock and only the passenger's door locks. when im in the car, i hit the lock button on door and same happens (only passenger's). when i put car in gear and let the clutch out, the door locks automatically (like its supposed to, but the drivers doesnt). do you think its the motor, linkage, or a simple computer problem? im taking it to GM tomorrow, i just hope they have time to look at it real quick cause i gotta meet some fellow 'balt owners later that night
Hrmm could be as simple as a reflash of the computer chip (sometimes they come faulty from the supplier). Could also be the actual motor inside the door (which should have been caught during PDI but obviously it was a lazy mechanic.) Either way it shouldn't take too long if they have the parts.
But TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. Don't **** around with amateurs, especially on a new car. The Cobalt has a sophisticated 32 bit computer and you should let professionals deal with it.

well, took the car to the dealer last night and left it. i got a call this morning from GM..."ur car is ready to be picked up". i asked what was wrong and low and behold...Darksun was right...coolant senor connector wasnt locked into place all the way. so now my fans, coolant reading, and warm startups are 100% back to normal. gm just has to order me a new door actuator and then ill be all set.
