gas station = won't idle.

Hello all. I've got one of the strangest problems I've ever heard of... just my luck. '06 SS/SC 2.8" 60#'s re-tuned (all of which a year and a half or more ago). The problem is simple : I stop and get gas, when I start the car back up afterward, it won't idle. I have to keep my foot on the throttle to get it started and feather the throttle to keep it running. After a couple minutes it's fine. This happens EVERY FRIGGIN' TIME I GET GAS!! Any ideas? Thanks.

Yeah the problem actually seems fairly clear cut. Its either your gas cap or purge valve on the canister.

I got pulled over by the cops because my tag was dirty a couple of days ago and went to take off and my car was dead. Well, I started it and it died again. I started it again and kept giving it gas and it was missing and missed for about a mile, so I went to pull into a station and revved it a couple times and it started idleing fine. I put some gas treatment in it and it has never happened again. I thought maybe it was a dirty injector or something like that.

Might also be worthwhile to change your fuel filter. If its clogged it could also cause starting issues.

Do you think that is what is wrong with my 2.4 also. Like I said, it has never happened again. I thought injector dirty or fuel filter maybe.

This.

Have Tom at Crate Engine Depot get you a new one (Part# 12597567). Easy fix as well.

(It's #915 on the diagram incase you don't know where it is).

Nope, haven't had the power steering recall done yet, so the wiring under the dash hasn't been tampered with.

same things happens to me when i go get gas. i just leave my car running. ass soon as they take the gas cap off it starts idling real bad sometime think it is going to stall out but ass soon as it is done fulling the rpms shoot up to normal and runs fine. if i do shut the car off i need to give it gas to start or else it just doesnt start. To this day i still don't know whats wrong with it or how to fix it.
