okay i just got a gm performance/sport, whatever u wanna call it, exhaust on my 2.2, its not as loud as the ones ive heard.......will it get louder as it "breaks in"??

mine is the angled grom GMPP cause i think the angled looks better on the 2.2s

 

sounds good, throaty in the lower rpm's but when im driving i cant hear it that well i, i had my buddy drive it and i drove his car and listened but honestly i couldnt hear it thats whyi was wondering if it was gonna break in and get louder lol, but yea dman090, let me know what you think of it

 

The longer i had the GMPP performance exhaust the louder it got . It was loud enough for me to sell it and buy the quieter touring version.

 

oh yeah. I have a vibrant 3 inch tip on mine

 

The touring gets louder as time goes on...but pwns with a deeper tone

 

Typically exhausts get QUIETER as they "break-in" which means covering them in exhaust fumes.

Considering the GMPP exhaust was dyno proven at 1.7whp on the 2.4L SS I don't think it would have been worth the money to put on a 2.2L either.

People buying catback's really should expect much of a power increase . I'm skeptical of some of the dyno numbers that have surfaced here ,12 WHP on one SS/SC and now that is considered the norm. To tell you the truth , the only thing i noticed when changing exhaust was the sound . I'm not saying it's impossible to gain a few HP , just don't count on anything drastic .

Now add a header and downpipe to a 2.5" catback and that's a different story.
