HELP with dealer

Hey guys my cobalt has 35100 miles on it and i just took it to the dealer cause the security system is acting up and the car wont start.

The dealer is telling me that cause the car was bought oct 27 2005 that I cant get it fixed for free even though im under 36,000 miles and missed the 3 year crap by about a month!!

Anyone have an suggestions on how i can not get raped by the dealer and get help from gm cause this is basically bs that the car get messed up sooooo close to the warranty.

My tactic was act like a loonatic so they give me what i want and they dont have a burnt down dealer (even though i would never do it anyways)

Thanks!

so if you bought it in oct. 07, the 3 years is up. yea it sucks, but it's not covered. its 3 years or 36k miles, whatever comes first.

Anyone get reimbursed from gm due to a warranty that was so close?

never heard of anyone getting covered under warranty for a warranty that had expired.

I had an intake manifold gasket go on my grand prix and it was a $500- $600 fix and my dad found some site that had codes for recalls and i had to pay a $200 deductable while gm covered the rest.

I dont think this is gonna be one of those situations but i work in retail and if someone gives me a hard time the manager just gives the person what they want so im just gonna be a dick and hope i dont have to pay all of it cause my mileage isnt even over which really pisses me off!!

your mileage has nothing to do with it though. it's past 3 years. the warranty is for 3 years. meaning there is no more warranty. meaning a company that's struggling to survive is most likely not going to cover additional costs that are technically not their responsibility to cover.

you could keep trying, i just wouldn't get your hopes up. and yelling and screaming and acting like a lunatic will get you no where. stay calm, and see what you can work out.

It's 3 years 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Not 3 years/36000 miles and a little bit after Sucks that it's so close, but that's how the game is played.

How are you getting screwed? I see nothing wrong here other than you trying to get free work done on your car. If anything you would be screwing the dealer

Try and look into it, search around on here, and see if you can get it fixed yourself.

Take it to another dealer, sometime they can get exceptions from gm, just be nice about it and not a dick. Being a dick will not get you anywhere. We can usually get an exception for 3 months 3k past warranty.

What? So when gm said 3 years / 36,000 mile warranty what wasn't clear?

And what makes them so bad?

well if this is directed at me i thought i could own the car for 20 years and have 15000 miles and still be under warranty (yeah stupid me). The service ive gotten from them is great im just angry that the warranty is so close and i really dont have any money like the rest of america.

No problem, just remember the dealership doesn't have to help you so getting angry about it will get you nowhere. If they are smart they will try to get it covered for you and earn a new service customer.

It's called the lemon law you file a claim . I had looked into on my girlfriend dodge truck and a ton of people had been getting reimbursed part or all of the repairs. I would look into it.
