an evap system problem could be anything. it could be anything from a bad gas cap to a faulty purge seloniod. theres so many parts to an evap system.

theres no way to tell to what it could be from just talking about it. the system would need to tested with a scantool and a smoke machine. i know that has nothing to with your comment, but i thought id let you know incase you were curious. most parts in the evaperative emissions system do not get repaired they get rplaced because the parts are either electrially controlled valves by the pcm or sensors that the pcm interprets to activate or control the valves and whatnot.

out of curiousity what was the code?

Cobalts are natorious for vent valve venting lines plugging. But as said before, there will be no performance issues or anything. A loose fuel cap could cause an evap code.
