Problems/Service/Maintenance Do you have problems with your new 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4L? What kind of service did you have done?

Help. Evap valve?

What is it and wuts it do? My SS/SC '06 just went in cuz a CEL popped up and thats wut its for? It seemed like it was burning more gas also. I wasnt driving, My dad was, we just dropped off my g/f at her house, my dad started the car back up and minutes down the rd. i look over and see the light on. Im worried, qut could of caused this. the cars only mods are new muffler and Airbox Mod. Done over 5 months ago.

an evap system problem could be anything. it could be anything from a bad gas cap to a faulty purge seloniod. theres so many parts to an evap system.

well, they said they had to send out the part or order something in. i let my dad talk to they guy since he does the paper work and stuff, i was gonna but i didnt kno how important it was.

theres no way to tell to what it could be from just talking about it. the system would need to tested with a scantool and a smoke machine. i know that has nothing to with your comment, but i thought id let you know incase you were curious. most parts in the evaperative emissions system do not get repaired they get rplaced because the parts are either electrially controlled valves by the pcm or sensors that the pcm interprets to activate or control the valves and whatnot.

out of curiousity what was the code?

i have no clue. they jsut called and told us wut was wrong and there gonna fix it.I'll find out the code tho and post it when i find out.

Cobalts are natorious for vent valve venting lines plugging. But as said before, there will be no performance issues or anything. A loose fuel cap could cause an evap code.
