Exclamation HELP...Marbles Sound From Transmission...Video Inside

Hello Everybody,

Last year I picked up a Redline, and there is this one noise that keeps bothering me, it appears to be coming from the transmission that only goes away when I step on the clutch pedal, it does not matter if I am at a stop or driving, usually the sound goes away in higher speeds and when the car is warm.

I am thinking the slave cylinder, not sure if anything else, usually after getting on it several times, I can smell a burning smell, not sure if the clutch or my brakes, as they are new all around and I only put about 10 miles on them I need to mention I have only put about 50 miles on this car since last year

The trans shift and downshifts perfectly with no sloppiness or grinds. I do not have any clutch slip either and the car has about 160ks on it

Anyways check the video out and let me know what you think, again the noise goes away when I step on the clutch pedal.

burning smell when u get on it several times would most likely be ur clutch slipping. if ur brakes were smalling like that it be from a seized piston and ur brakes not disengaging and they would smoking and most likely red hot. Iv had it happen. but that sounds very much like u have a bad clutch. and possibly something broken in there rattling around. get that checked asap before u cause any more damage and it costs more than a new clutch

could be tob or a bearing inside the trans since it only happens when the trans is spinning

Check your trans fluid! I bet it is low, I know mine gets very noisy when an axle seal starts to leak.

The burning smell is the clutch, at 160k it's probably on it's last leg.

My GMPP clutch chatters in neutral especially when the car is cold. These aren't quiet transmissions by any means...

that is a failing Input Shaft bearing.

Just saw the vid. That is not normal, definitely a worn bearing and not clutch chatter.

if its loud like this, you have a failing input shaft bearing.

if its quiet, I wouldn't worry about it. I've had a noise in mine for 40k miles and I've never had an issue

Well its kinda loud on the out side, but define loud lol just like op, it stops when clutch is disengaged, only on idle at cold starts till the car is fully warmed up. Its a f35 that was new when Powell put in the 4.45 swap, but I got it used with around 12k, put maybe about 4k on it and put oem ac delco fluid and gmpp clutch kit when installed. Drives completely fine, it hates low rpms in 1st/2nd but I think thats a cobalt thing. So idk, hoping everything is ok especially since I'm getting closer to putting my big turbo on ect.

Thats my video from a few months ago before mr belvedere hooked me up with a trans. In thst video it was diagnosed as a bad input shaft bearing. The noise was louder than my catless exhaust.

I know there will be a core charge but I'm sure John Powell would be able to work something out, he'll rebuild it and it'll be another G85, that is assuming he has a transmission laying around. Which really wouldn't surprise me at all if you've ever been to his house.

If it was the input shaft bearing would it happen all the time? Mine only makes noise in the morning.

So hold on

Does it make the noise when you push the clutch in? Or only when the clutch is out, in neutral?

For lack of confusion, it makes noise is neutral. I can stop the noise when I hold down the clutch pedal.

ok

That is input shaft bearing then. if its as loud as this video like you say, it is bad. John might be able to replace it for you, since its 10 bucks for the part but requires you to tear the transmission apart to fix.

So if you have the same noise at first start up, I quickly pressed the clutch in and then released it still in neutral. The speed jumps to 5-10 mph. Also does that quickly if I engage reverse too quick. Feel like I have to wait for the input shaft to slow down or something. Had a few guys give me tips but just curious what you guys think.
