Well, since you know enough to read the fuel trims and understand what they mean, i gotta give you a lot of credit.

9 is still waaay far off par though. Are those long or short term trims?

And who gave you those numbers, and how were they logged?

I agree Liz, but your boy started talkin smack about the cobalt first, I know everyone has the right to voice there opinion here and not gonna even start talking about here in the US you can voice your opinion etc. Because I will lol, I'm just saying and going along side with blk06cbltss, some of us here respect this car and it's unique abilities rather on the track, strip or street or just the car enthusiast or everyday drivers out there

I picked it up like 5 hours ago... And only 2... but they have had plenty of time to fix it...

We are thinking when they put it together on friday after replacing the intake manifold that the guys didn't put the air filter back together quite the right way and in the rain storms all weekend, it got some moisture up in there...

So I am hoping for the best.

Sometimes it's the little things that can make a big difference, yeah that's just crazy when you have to take it to more than one dealership just to see what the problem is. The only thing I have to take my cobalt in is for that darn recall on the power steering, I received a letter stating that they have the part in and I can bring it by the dealership to get the issue fix, I haven't had the powersteering go out on me, but I have a buddy of mine who has a 07 SS/NA with over 140,000 miles on it and haasn't had no problems with the steering.

i'm not going to read through 7 pages of leg humping and stupid guesses as to what's wrong. most people here don't have a clue as it sits.

why the p0171 code triggers.
fuel trims on the long term fuel trim sit above +16% for an extended period of time will trigger the p0171 code. have the tech hookup the tech 2 and look at the fuel trims while the car is idling. if the trims are over this and still be low 22 it's the mas air scaling in the ecm itself. have them reload the stage 2 file, or stock file which ever you may have into the car. if the trims are 30%+ there is a vacuum leak somewhere.

yeah I received the first letter back in march about 3 days ago in the mail I received the second one saying they have the part avaliable. I'm just gonna go to a local dealership to take care of it.

So what's the plan on the cobalt? Any custom work getting done? or just keeping it as it is? Would be nice to see some HID's on your car

It has had 3 mass air flow censors, head gasket valve cover, cad converter, air filter housing, o2 sensors, fuel pump, new dip stick, ect. The car runs rough whether or not the check engine light is on... PLEASE HELP... any advise???
Sounds like they have no idea whats wrong and are just throwing parts at it. I hate when they do that, but it gets them more money from GM though.

P0171 = System Too Lean.
Your A/F is off.
Look for mods. Do you have green fuel injectors ( Green = Stock = 35# ) If not, look and get the part number and google it (Thats how I found out I have 42#ers from Lucas)
Check for an undersized Supercharger pully. 3.3" is Stock.

Check your hoses, I had mine in for rich, and they completly overlooked my cracked and holy hoses.

Check for leaks in your intake after the MAF sensor. Make sure the clamps are tight. I made that mistake in A&P school once, Left an intake line loose and the enigne was so lean it woudlnt start.

If all ealse fails,
Get it Dyno Tuned.

I heard you try and start it a few times this morning.

I dont think there is any need to throw GM Performance parts on this thing insylem. But that's all up to Lindsey.

Back when she first got the car. and it was running like it should I had all kinds of plans for Her car. I was telling her it would look good if we lowered the car a few inches. put some HID's in to replace the high/low beam and fog lights.

But now its discouraging to put those said items into a troubled car.

The only aftermarket stuff in the car right now is a JVC Dub Din Touch screen DVD, head unit, MTX 600.1, and a Kove Armageddon M series 10'' Sub woofer in a custom ported box Tuned to 36HZ.

And 20% window tint.

If the car ran like it should it would be a whole different story.

& blk06cbltss I would shut ur fu*king mouth if I was you. Why dont we meet up and you can call me a ****** to my face.

You guys are both **** if you keep doing this ****... Lets see who the bigger person is and not comment back to this stupid ****...

This is about my car trouble not anything else!

The check engine light is not on and we are thinking that it not starting is probably a different issue...
My short fuel trim is currently at 0 and my long term fuel trim is now at -5...

Its was up at 17 when the light was on (last week before the intake was replaced) and that was what was triggering it to light up (CEL)...
My Fuel trims are where they need to be, I went into the shop this morning to have him actually show me the numbers while the car was idling.
So lets hope I will be done dealing with this **** now...
They are keeping it overnight to start it up in the morning, and see if it won't start... then they can properly test it

Yeah true, well hopefully they figure it out because she seems to love it when it's running right, so don't give up on it completely just yet.

Time to walk over to the car sales office and ask them what they'll give you for it on trade.
