That link has "ball joints" on either end where its bolted. That means theres a rubber boot filled with grease. It might not ignite but it will defineatly boil the grease and thats not good. Like i said all he needs is an impact and it will spin right off.

Even with an impact gun they can spin. your really suppose to put a wrench on the end of the stud and use another wrench to loosen the bolt(most gm have the allen key or hex end). I do this stuff every day and it's flaterate if your lucky and you use an impact it will spin the nut itself off if your not then your gonna have to work at it. I have never had trouble using the torches on them.

Theres no way to hold down the stud though because it is encased in a metal and plastic cover.

I do this stuff all the time too and i think you need to look at the picture again theres no hex on the end of the stud. And you're partially right, if there was one he could just stick a wrench on the nut and a socket on the stud.

But in this case he just needs to spin it off with an impact by hitting the trigger on and off a couple times and it will spin right off. the freakin thing doesnt even have a spec of rust on it, should come right off.

That wasnt a picture of my car.

The bolts on my car are CAKED with rust, this is a winter driven car that deals with NY salt, and it's now 2 years old

well if thats the case you may have to cut it off and replace it. We get pretty mild climate here but when its like a 92 honda of something its not uncommon that we have to cut stuff off and replace it. You can heat it up but i dont recommend re using it. And a propane torch probably wont do much for you. If its really rusted up you need to get that nut red hot (Oxy-acetaline torch). I'll probably melt the backing in the process and also boil the grease in it so i'll be ruined. You CAN try rust penetrants but its pretty rare those actually work. That peice is probably no more than 20$ anyways. You can probably get one aftermarket for even cheaper.

Theres no way you'll get it off with hand tools i can tell you that much. Suspension parts are pretty situational, specially ball joints and linkages. Just takes experience and the right tools.
