HELP! what the hell is this?
HELP! what the hell is this?
soo who know what the hell this code is and how do I get it/ were it come from? how to fix it if its a problem?
P0496 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge -PCM
P0496 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge -PCM
it makes a wereid hissing/highpitch ring kind of noise from the rear end when you start the car and does it for like a second or soo when you turn the key all the way on but NOT start it
well the muflers been off for like a 2 months now and never got the code
the only thing ives done to it recently was lower it,

Fuel pump pressurizing the fuel lines.

not louder than normal or you could have a fuel pump problem.
yeah, you can but Ives had them out for like 2-3 weeks now and my fiance noticed it and pointed it out, I picked her up from work and she was like whats that noises it was louder than normal, and this is like 3 weeks after I took the seats out.
you know how you can turn the key but not start it and here it prime or do its thing whatever it does, well after it does that theres no noise, but when you start the car you get this highp pitch ring or hissing noise, like almost and electrical noise you know, hard to explain.
but after I noticed that I checked my interceptor and got the code I said above, I check for codes ever couple of weeks or so just to see if anything is out of the ordinary, but ike I said I got the code p0496 and Ive never had that before

Here's part of the description of that code:
This DTC tests for undesired intake manifold vacuum flow to the evaporative emission (EVAP) system. The control module seals the EVAP system by commanding the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve Closed and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve Closed. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor to determine if a vacuum is being drawn on the EVAP system. If vacuum in the EVAP system is more than a predetermined value within a predetermined time, this DTC sets.
It kinda sounds like the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve

had the same problem with my car, that is the sensor that controlls the fuel tank solonoid vent valve that is "pissing" around. You may also notice that the gas tank may or may not give trouble to fill at a normal rate once at the fuel pump. in my case the sensor was good and the connection was just not making good contact.
check: 1. the fuel tank ventilation valve
2. the sensor( for the valve) located some where on the tank?
3. the sensor connection (my problem)
4. plugged charcoal box/or vent to atmosphere (un-likely)
If it's none of these items look for a good mechnic that could help solve the problem, but in my opinion it is all part of the fuel resevoir system(fuel tank and ventilation)
hope this helps
drag sergeant.
p0355 = BAD news
oh.. and codes.. the car threw these codes when the #2 piston failed from manufacturer defect. BEWARE
