HID experts, a little help

ok i just got a set of retrofitted gen2's not too long ago. they have lexus ex330 projectors (d2s 6000k bulbs if that matters). and the light should be alot brighter than what they are currently putting out when i face a wall of sorts.

heres how they should look via pictures from the seller (and i will note my cutoff looks exactly the same)

n here is roughly how they look now, much dimmer with a little bit more of a pronounced hot spot but the cutoff is the same as pictured above (NOTE THIS IS NOT AN ACTUAL PICTURE OF MY HEADLIGHTS!!)

So i guess my question is, what would make the HIDs appear dimmer.. could the bulbs be going to ****? or the ballasts? or any other ideas?

I'll make a solid bet on bulb spacing. If the bulb is spaced back too far, even a MM or two, it can dim the output greatly.

yea thats the other thing i was thinking. i had to take the bulbs out when i put the dust covers on the backs and they might be off a little.. seems pretty drastic change though for that but who knows

i know that the retros the bulb itself needs to be pushed all the way in or the projector needs to be back all the way for it to be "correct" so im gonna assume its one of those idk what gen 2 really look like in the back though

yea these are retrofitted though.. but same basic concept none the less.. ill have to take them out once again and check stuff out

i basically thought it was either bulbs, ballasts, or fitment, but they were pretty snug in there so im slightly skeptical on it.. ill check anyways

Replace the bulbs, and your problems should go away.

The thing is, with a projector, the capsule has to be aligned damn near perfect for the output to be right; with cheap aftermarket D2S bulbs, there's no real quality assurance, so it's hit or miss. Search eBay for Philips 85122 or Philips 85122+ and buy a pair, they'll be brighter, and your output will be much more even. Especially with "ex330" projectors...just kidding bud, but you meant RX330s .
