Holy Crap... 2.2L MAJOR problems

Well,
Driving home this afternoon proved to be an interesting opportunity for me. The engine on my 2.2 has always been a little.. finicky. I've had it at the dealer twice for random stalling/shaking/random poor performance. They can't find out the problem.

Today it started freaking out while idling, random/sluggish acceleration, general crappyness. As the drive continued, it continued to get worse. Then the air conditioner went out. I looked down to notice the light had turned off. I turned it back on.. it flashed and did nothing.

Car continued to act like ****. Stalled. Stalled again. And again.

Finally limped it home. I know if I let it sit for a little while and come back, it'll be better. It'll only do the random idle that it so loves to do -- and not everything else.

I'd take it to the dealer, but they'd not be able to duplicate. Like always.

No CEL.

Any ideas?

Even without a CEL, there could be codes in memory. Generally, some of the codes only trigger the light if they occur multiple times (I've figured this out from my Dashhawk while trying to tune the turbo).

Good luck - I'd rather have a dead car than an intermittent one...

disconect the battery for about 5 min. try to get it to the dealer and see if they cant reflash the computer. then if your state has a lemon law, 3 times to the dealer for the same thing they have to give you a new car.

Yeah... but does that work if they can't reproduce the problem?

Concerning your problem...

It is odd that you don't have a code. Get it scanned anyway just to see. Next time you bring it in, report the A/C light flashing. That is unique and could be traceable. Does the problem only exist when the A/C is on?

Concerning the lemon law...

Slow down. There is no need to be junking you car just yet. The way that works is they have to find a problem and be unable to fix it 3 times. They haven't even found your problem yet.
