I need a new intercooler & pump
Hey, I have a 2007 supercharged ss and have been experiencing some trouble w/ my intercooler coolant pump. I noticed that it's not circulating any fluid throughout the system so I took it to a mechanic where he pressure tested it for me. He told me that the housing around the IC pump was cracked and it's causing the coolant to leak out. he said i would have to get a new pump and also told me that he noticed my intercooler has a bow or a bend to it. I want to replace that as well. What brand or type of intercooler and pump do you recommend? also, i've been seeing a lot of posts about something called option B. Can someone tell me what that is and would that be the best thing for me to get. I would really like to keep the temps as low as possible.

lol, you don't need to buy a new intercooler, the one you have now will work just fine.
The modifications that you can do to it however will make it run more efficiently.
Many like myself have dual pass, and a select few have a single pass. You will need to just search and look at threads about each and see what they do, in a nutshell they'll reduce your IAT2's.
Back on topic, go ahead and buy that pump from zzp, as they will give you store credit for returning your old one also.

Heres the rundown on option b:

Parts needed:
Coolant reservoir with all necessary tubing: http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...B-P1838C0.aspx
Dual Pass End-plate: http://www.ottperformance.com/Cobalt...duct_info.html
and this is my intercooler (proper term is heat exchanger in this context) of choice:

also consider a aftermarket heat exchanger like the ott one that is dual pass or the zzp one..

hey pyros, i think i'm gonna get that ott heat exchanger. doesn't look too bad and the price is reasonable. how much of a drop in IAT2's do you think i will see? in other words, do you think this h/e is deff. worth getting? so this ott h/e will replace my factory one? just take out the factory one and install the ott and i'm good to go?

Imagine playing hot potato by yourself. When you start off, its no problem to just switch it off to the other hand when it gets too hot to bear. Once it gets too hot for the other hand, you switch it back, etc etc. until eventually its too hot for either hand and you drop it.
This heat exchanger greatly extends the amount of time you can play hot potato with your supercharger's coolant until it heat soaks and starts taking power away from you.

thanks pyros, good way to put it. but all i would have to do is take out the factory h/e and put in the ott? i'm asking this though b/c i've seen on other threads that some people have an ott and their factory one in. I also see that you put up a link for ott's dual pass endplate. would i need to get that too b/c i'm buyin the dual pass h/e? or is it just to help keep the temps even cooler?

2. Dual pass endplate isn't needed but is highly suggested if you plan on dropping pulleys or modding at all. It will keep you from heatsoaking while you are at a stop and allow you to cool down faster. Of course a H/E will help that some, but only when you are moving.

so it wouldn't be a problem to run both stock and ottp h/e at the same time? both of them together would have enough clearance? i don't know too much about these.

The part that sucks is LFP got wise and raised their price up to $140. Ebay is now the cheapest one.
If they both fit, that's the best way of doing it. More cooling surface area = better temperatures.
