IC Pump
IC Pump
Okay long story short, I Zeroed out my coils last night an in the process the car slipped off the jack (wheels where on so no worries) an the jack slammed into the top of the IC pump, an took the top right off the motor of the pump. I drove it home with no pump watching the IAT'2s an they stayed at about 130 Degrees. Is there any way to fix the pump? it looks like the main shaft inside it is snapped, but it also looks like it was glued on to spin the pump lol. Other dumb question i know these things burn up an there are tons of cobalts that drive around not even pumping Anti freeze through it.. is that really safe to drive like that?.
just stay out of it until you get a new one. its a little safer now that it is colder out too. i dont suggest going too long. i did go a whole winter in 2008 without one working, and car still runs fine today.
I would say your best bet is to spend the $100 from ZZP or other vendors to replace the pump. Since the internals are broken, like you mention, I think you would be temporally fixing it for the pump to break shortly after. You could keep the broken pump after trying to fix it and use it as a temporary backup if you can get a fix that holds.
So i can drive it though?.. just normal day to day cruising with it? i took the pump out completely an theres nothing there the hoses are tided up..
Yates Motorsport or ZZP. Yates is about 10 dollars less than ZZP if that makes a difference. ZZP are a vendor on here. Good luck, be happy you didnt take out the entire radiator/h.e/a.c assembly lol
