Idle Problem

I have seen several people post on here about idle problems and I am probably in the same boat, however it seems what is happening to me might be a little different. I have a 2006 ss 2.2L. When I throw it into neutral and begin slowing down when I approach a stop sign or red light the RPMs shudder down to as low as 100-300 rpms. Sometimes they will shudder up to 1100-1200 as well. The car will shake and rattle as well. Eventually if i come to a complete stop the engine seems to level out at 800. However sometime it also stalls and I dont even notice until I go to accelerate. I have hear about cleaning the throttle body or checking the vacuum lines. Lines seem fine, havent looked at the throttle body yet as I am not sure exactly how to access it and then clean it. Hard to figure out based on some of the posts here

ok well...

1.) what car do you have. ... SS didnt come in a 2.2

2.) find out how to clean your TB, clean it and see if that fixes it.

3.) I had the same problem, changed my MAF and it fixed it. (going to need a re tune though, dealer will do it IF YOUR STOCK !!

Before you clean the TB disconnect your battery. Then recomnect it when youre done. This should reset your trims.

It's very simple to clean the throttle body. Unscrew. Unplug the sensor. (Hardest part. Took me a while to get it off) Pull throttle body off. Clean it with throttle body cleaner. Be sure not to clean it too rough. Could bend the plate. Wipe it down. Put it back on. Good to go.

Check vacuum lines running from throttle body to brake booster for leaks

I had this problem on my 06 2.4L. The car would idle real rough at stop signs/lights. The techs at the Chevy dealer couldnt figure it out back when my car was under warranty. Years later I noticed a BAD fuel smell coming from the rear of the car. After research I found out there is a TSB on the Fuel pumps for possible leaking issues. Took the car in and had it replaced for free. No more fuel smell, and as a bonus, NO MORE ROUGH IDLE!! There is an updated design. You might want to look into it.
