Exclamation Im soo confused....plz help!!!!

So this is such an ongoing annoyance. I have a 2010 cobalt ss turbo. Minor bolt-ons, gm stage 1 tune. I have had several o2 codes. which were replaced under waranty no problems with that. but then i finally got round to installing the zzp intercooler kit. ever since then ive been getting check gas cap notifications and then CEL comes on a little bit later. had it scanned and keeps popping up with a vacuum leak code. then had the code taken off. a couple weeks later the same thing happened except ths time it popped up with an evap selenoid code. whats going on!?!?

The gas cap passes the emissions test. And all the IC pipes are connected fine. I'm just soo tired of the CEL coming on. Grrrr

Dont bother checking the evap valve. Just replace it. Its like $15 from rock auto anf 99% of the time that is the problem. You can try to blow through it, if you can its shot. If you cant it can be stuck closed which is also common.

Yeh I've already gone thru 2 of em. And I had it at the dealer with that code and they refused to replace it because it wasn't acting up at the time. But then they replaced the fuel pressure sensor. Wtf!!!

It's now a once a year item for me. Bought extra.

You really don't want to know the side effects when it really ***** up. It's awful.

One of the reasons why the EVAP vent valve and EVAP purge solenoid go bad is that people overfill there gas tanks. Its meant to purge fumes not liquid gas. when you over fill the tank you are more than likely exposing the Vent valve to gas and gas is getting in the system. This can cause the vent valve to stick (fuel tank side). Purge solenoid I believe also goes bad from this but I dont know the mechanism yet. I know mines been fine for 3 years now and I dont overfill the gas tank. It got stuck once.

Please give us the specific code you are getting.

I have seen:

P0497
P0455

If it's anything like that then you need to start replacing the purge vavlve. It's such a simple fix. Don't take it to the dealer.

Here is the evap purge valve. Replaced in 5 minutes.
